Cowboy Joe

I was downtown this weekend and this guy approached me as I was shooting some pics. He's a veteran. Got to talking and told me a lot of stories about war, his past, how he got his name, and even recited some poetry ("The Ideal Woman") that he had written, which was surprisingly good. I'm not sure which of those things, if any, were true. But regardless, he had one of the best attitudes about life I'd ever come across. Especially for a homeless guy. He didn't even ask me for money. In fact he tried to give me some. He came up to me and asked for change for a dollar so he could use a pay-restroom. I only had $.50 in change on me, so I just told him that he could have it. He tried to give me a dollar anyway, but I told him it was no big deal. I guess he just wanted to talk to someone. So I did, for about 30 minutes.



Supposedly he got his name because he was working in Montana on a ranch way back when, checking barb wire fences, when some Marlboro trucks drove by. A couple guys got out and asked if they could take a photo. He said yeah, and they snapped one of him at sunset. He said the photo became a Marlboro billboard Ad, and it said "Cowboy Joe" on it. Therefore, etc.

Beach days

My brother and his family are now at AMU in Florida. We met up at the beach a week ago, before they took off.
